Port Moody Station Museum is operated by the Port Moody Heritage Society and located in the old centre of the city in the building of the second CPR railroad station that serviced Port Moody.
Port Moody was chosen to be the terminus for Canada's first transcontinental railroad. It is the first place where the rails meet salt water navigable by ocean going vessels. Later an extension was made to what was then "Gastown" and now known as the "Port of Vancouver". Officially Port Moody is still the terminus of the railroad. Port Moody is still a major port for sulphur and ethelene glycol.
