Just Checking In!

gnomesgarden3Howdy, It’s Monday and I thought I would check in with you all!

I’m still doing posts on the various blogs and sites I am running. See The Gnome’s Gnet for a list of blogs and sites that I am connected with.

I’ll be looking at combine some of the sites into one and deleting others based on feedback I get from readers. Feedback is something that is hard to find, I have found. I believe that most read and nod their head in agreement or shake their head in disagreement, dislike, or dis and dat. But head nods and shakes don’t really come across well, unless you are in the same room.

(Before I go on, I want to say that I appreciate all my readers on all of my sites and recognize that some/many have very busy schedules, or are simply busy at the present time. )

TitleWith The Gnome Tapestry, though actively published for nearly a year-and-a-half now, I have gotten almost no comment. I do really appreciate theLikes I have gotten on Facebook, but have little constructive criticism on the cartoon strips. The point of mentioning this is not a matter of complaining. I only wanted to mention that I’m working in a vacuum and it is difficult to know if there are areas that can be improved.

I could use the statistics I get from the site to judge which content is working the best, but it seems people use script blockers or I actually only have a handful of readers.

If that is the case, I’ll have to figure out new ways to get readers. I have been using something calledCoPromoteto try drive some traffic to The Gnome Tapestry, but that leaves a footprint of posts on my Facebook and Twitter feeds that while I select, are still a bit of a nuisance. On CoPromote you share (and go to, and read) other folkscontent and hopefully they do the same for you. CoPromote really boosted my content, but I’d rather be getting posts via word-of-mouth.

041-KnockKnock 01Word-of-mouth is the best way. If the cartoons stink, it would be great to hear that from readers so I can work to improve them. I think they are getting better all the time, but working in a vacuum… (I think most writers have a spouse, roommate, or even friends visiting to provide feedback, but living on your own presents some difficulty in getting face-to-face comment.)

I have other sites as well, though not ones I have been as active in as “The Gnome Tapestry” and would love some feedback. It can be messages or posts on “The Gnome’s Garden” Facebook page or actual comments on the sites.

Anyway I appreciate both commendations and constructive criticism. (I mean I would prefer if my posts were perfect, but it wouldn’t be as interesting, right?)

aka The Gnome
